The Return of “Fun Grace”

30 Jul

Many of you may remember my stint as “Fun Grace” last month when Aunt Jen and Uncle Dave went to the Caribbean. Well….she’s baaaaccckkkk! Aunt Jen, Uncle Dave, and MK are in Texas for the ASA Softball Nationals, which means it’s about to get awfully Mommy Blog-like up in here since I’m watching John David and Josie!

In case you missed out last time or don’t feel like reviewing:”Fun Grace” is when I attempted to put all my anal retentive ways aside and look the other way while the children eat junk food, and basically have a crazy fun time…as long as no one is at risk of being hurt.

Now…I don’t consider myself too exciting to begin with so don’t expect miracles out of “Fun Grace” but I think I am doing a pretty good job so far. I have at least successfully tired myself out! Here’s what the day was like…

I started off my morning with my first run in a while, it's actually the first time I've ever braved a run in Alabama!

Why have'n't I run in Alabama? Well...what is this mysterious incline? I'm not used to these "things" in Florida....and it somehow makes it even harder for me to run. As if that were even possible!

While hoofing it up the hill I spotted a fuzzy woodland creature...Bunny!

I must say the scenary is much better in Alabama! I might actually be excited for my run on Sunday?

John David was not a happy camper when he realized that his Mom was leaving, we tried to explain to him how boring it would be sitting at the softball fields in Texas and he said, “Momma I like Boring!” Fortunately our afternoon wasn’t too boring!

After picking up Josie from gym we headed to the $1 movie theatre to see Rio! It was really cute!

After the movie they had to play just 1 game:) On Josie's turn John David said "Wow! You're really good at this game!" Seeing as all he did was run into things:)

We went on a trip to "Super-Awesome Target" after the movies and I think I'm rubbing off on Josie! As you can see she found two bathing suits, shorts, and flip flops! JD of course found a toy...

I am following "Fun Grace" rules in the food department as you can see...our leftover movie treats!

There was one more request at Target and "Fun Grace" couldn't say no!

We finally made it to the pool around 5:30 and the place was deserted! Which isn't a bad thing! I love Josie's new bathing suit! and JD's distracted by his new toys...

John David learned a new trick at the pool! He has turned into a little fish, it's amazing how fast they learn!

After some nice showers to wash off all the lovely chlorine it was time for breakfast for dinner!

and some "crazy rummy!" I finally won a round and I was so excited even though I only won 2/7 rounds...

This is the "please no pictures while I'm eating" face...

That cute little face above is finally sleeping! I am right behind him..I’m pooped! “Fun Grace” may very quickly turn into “Exhausted Grace” again!

Questions for You!

Is is hilly or flat where you live? Any tips for running hills?

Have you ever played Crazy Rummy? I know very few card games and I think I’ve finally caught on!

Cupcakes and avoiding “my” freshman orientation.

28 Jul

As usual my time here in Birmingham has had no dull moments…nor do I expect any soon!

Aunt Jen is amazing and took me to a new cupcake place in Birmingham...Gigi's Cupcakes!

There was a rather large line inside! And how can you blame anyone look at these cupcakes!

Carrying our treats home!

So many to choose from! The Cherry Cordial(one with the cherry), Chocolate Creme Pie(far middle right), and Wedding Cake(bottom left hand corner) are my favorites! We still have a few more to taste..but if you're going to Gigi's skip the Red Velvet it was nothing special...

What I've been missing at home...I mean seriously how adorable is this! It is going to be framed!

Tonight we decided to finally help me fix my awful little self highlighting job. Here's the before...

John David was so excited to pick out my hair color at the store and then kept asking, "when are you going to put your hair on Drace?" Yes, Drace.

Everyone joined in on the hair stylist fun! It's sort of like an arts and crafts project, right? I don't care how awful I look...this is so funny/cute of JD!

After! This is "Dark Blonde." Which I am almost certain is my actual hair color and go figure...I think it suits me.

Having some fun posing with my "stylists!"

The upside of dying my hair to it’s natural color is that it may help me not be mistaken for a 14-year-old. Yes, a 14-year-old. We went to MK’s freshman orientation and two separate high school seniors, of all people, assumed I was also a freshman with MK. Embarrassing. My response was, “No, I am a senior…in college.

Well tomorrow’s agenda is full! and I need some sleep!

Questions for You!

Have you ever been mistaken for someone or something you’re not? I actually get the high school thing all the time.

Random: Is anyone else excited for Jersey Shore? I not really a fan but they are bringing their craziness to Italy! How can I resist?
