A Fun Birthday in Atlanta & Blog Troubles.

15 Jun

In true Aunt Jen style my time here in Birmingham has been non stop activity BUT it wasn’t contained to just this city. This week we spent a few days in Atlanta as well while my cousin MK was attending a softball day camp for three days at Georgia Tech. Aunt Jen, John David, MK and I stayed with at her cousin Mary Rose’s house in Buckhead and we had a great time  during the day while MK was at camp! And it just so happened we were there on John David’s 5th Birthday so we even did a little extra celebrating.

***Here’s where the trouble comes in, I’m having photo uploading issues BUT there still are quite a few so you’ll get the idea! It also looks like an ode to John David, apparently it likes uploading pictures of him and not me, which is appropriate since it was his birthday:)

Monday-John David’s 5th Birthday!

Birthday Eve he got to open one present from Mary Rose and CJ and it was his worst nightmare…a cute Ralph Lauren outfit.

Wake Up Sleepy Birthday Boy!

We went to Ria’s Bluebird, a hipster little joint I found on UrbanSpoon, for…Birthday Pancakes!

My Egg, Black Bean & Potato Burrito! It was delicious but I didn’t love the sweet potato patty. I also stole some yummy pancakes from John David, too!

Then we headed for the Georgia Aquarium!

Then it was time for lunch at Johnny Rockets for Birthday Milkshakes and of course some Birthday Kisses, too!

After we picked up MK from camp it was off to Turner Field to see the Braves vs. the Yankees!

We had great seats behind the home plate but I preferred these gigantic seats at the top of the ball park!

Tuesday

After a very tiring day Monday, Tuesday morning we decided to drop MK off and then stay in for a while….we did make a showing of Snow White and The Huntsman though. We missed the first 20 minutes thanks to theatre employees telling us to go in the wrong theatre, where we watched 15 minutes of the end of the movie before realizing something was amiss! I still really like it though…I mean really it had Chris Hemsworth, how can I complain?

Just how I like my men..dirty and serious. Are you taking notes out there Rob?

CJ and Mary Rose took us to their favorite Mexican restaurant, Verde, for dinner. It was amazing! Now pretend like you’re looking at a picture of my delicious fish taco and roasted vegetable taco instead of MK being a dork.

I was stuffed but I got some Froyo to go at Yoforia. I was so impressed that their frozen yogurt was made with organic milk and yogurt! It balanced out the fact that I topped it with Oreos, Butterfingers & sprinkles. All of the non organic variety.

The capped crusader getting ready for bed with his new utility belt, sword and mask! He always has to be prepared.

And we capped off the night by watching Captain America, once again….I’m not complaining.

Wednesday

After dropping off MK at her last day of camp we went to breakfast at an Original Pancake House and then were off to Stone Mountain! We rode the sky ride to the top of the mountain and walked around or in John David’s case ran down the mountain out of sight and scared the heck out of us, before proceeding to beg us to carry him back to the top because, “his heart hurt.” That didn’t happen. He walked. Then we went on a “Duck Boat Ride,” which just so happens to be a little troubling when the captain, who looked like Santa, floored it into the water. But we survived and everyone got a chance to drive the boat, even me! Santa, a.k.a., the boat captain even agreed with me plan on travelling instead of looking for a job this summer. I mean if Santa agrees I must be doing something right!

In front of Stone Mountain!

Getting ready for out Duck Boat ride, did I mention everyone received a highly obnoxious duck-bill kazoo, there should be a waiver signed before any child is just given on of these…

This is right as our truck turned into a boat…I’m obviously feeling  confident about it.

Success!

We picked up MK from camp and were on the road back to Birmingham! And someone took a nap, unfortunately that someone was not me. Today we ran lots of errands because tomorrow is John David’s Avenger Birthday Party. Wait to you see my outfit. Until then…

Have a wonderful Friday!
