On Boca Grande Time.

1 Jul

Well I’m back! And with some changes to my blogs look thanks to my boyfriend/tech team! I’m still working on updating things because a lot had changed in my life and my blog doesn’t quite reflect that yet. However, I couldn’t put off blogging forever especially when I have so much fun stuff to share!

My Aunt Jen’s family and friends have been vacationing in Boca Grande on the west coast of Florida for 14 years now and I have the pleasure of joining them here for my third summer this year! It’s an awesome little island where everyone gets around on golf carts and just relaxes all day! We got in last night and have already done so much!

This morning I took a leisurely run, notice the sign.

My “running partner” was up late working on the blog so would not wake up for a run but he woke right up for breakfast!

Sword fighting with sticks. Boys will be boys.

We went to lunch at Loose Caboose and I got some looks while trying to snap photos.

Someone insisted on having their homemade ice cream before having lunch.

Aunt Jen and I shared the Boca Grande Wrap (fried fish, black beans & rice) and it was as amazing as I remembered!

After spending the afternoon “playing tennis” a.k.a. swinging at the air, napping and playing Apples to Apples we went to dinner with our rather large group of 43 people at Sister’s, I forgot to snap a photo of the yummy mushroom pizza and greek salad but I got a picture of dessert!

After dinner I was sporting my trendy Build-A-Bear Workshop pet carrier filled with super hero toys.

Sunset!

Rob & I

My Josie Wosie & I! I love her!

She’s a model.

And a sand artist.

She inspired me!

And…what I’ve been up to on my hiatus.

So I was gone for a little while. You missed John David’s Avenger Themed 5th Birthday Party, a long day of babysitting and going home after being gone for a whole month!

I made all the food for John David’s party and of course gave them Avenger names, like Black Widow’s Kick Butt Cookie Dough Dip!

I also did “something else” for his party…any guesses?

I wore some normal clothes as well- luckily! I don’t know who that suit is flattering on but it wasn’t me!

John David chilling at the pool.

We also accidentally discover Aldridge Gardens while trying to find a park by the movie theatre between the double feature we saw!

John David loved it!

Especially when we found the fairy houses! Apparently he “has been going to school to learn how to find fairy houses.” I’m glad we achieved a life goal while I babysat.

We also had some talks about health that went like this. John David: Grace, I want to know what is healthy for me. Me: Not those chips or the Hershey Bar you just finished. JD: Well these are my last chips ever.

Cut to six hours later…Me: John David, I thought you were done eating chips. JD: I meant tomorrow Grace! Me: That’s what we all say…

I had a great lunch with Rob, my sister & her boyfriend at Sloppy Joe’s when I got home!

I also tried the new chocolate dipped cone at McDonald’s while picking up just a tea. It’s amazing. Seriously, just don’t try it. because you’ll crave one.

On Rob’s 22nd Birthday (Happy Birthday Babe!) his sister and nephew came over to get pizza, italian ice and take a dip in the pool!

Phew! Well with that I am going to say goodnight I have another day full of Boca tomorrow and am very sleepy!

Have a Wonderful & Relaxing Sunday!

A low key week…almost.

9 Jun

After a very fun and tiring weekend in Gatlinburg last weekend, this week was just what I needed! I basically lounged around my Dad’s house with my siblings all week long. Sleeping in, tanning, reading, planning trips for later in the summer and watching movies. My photos aren’t very exciting and mostly snapped on my iPhone so bear with me:)

Monday night we went to the local Froyo joint in Clarksville called Berry Bear!

My delicious creation!

Tuesday we went to the mall for a while and I contemplated Sperry’s, yes my feet are really that big!

But I decided to buy these online instead since I thought they were cuter!

Dinner that night was my favorite: Grilled Veggies & Baked Beans! I tried one of the new LightLife Veggie Burgers but my preference is still Morningstar Garden Veggie Burgers but of course homemade is the best!

While shopping at the mall and Walmart I picked up some “essentials.” I was intrigued by Cupcake Bites…don’t be, they’re gross. However I am extremely happy with my Pooh Pillow Pet! Yes I am a 5-year-old at heart.

Turns out the puppies were also interested in Cupcake Bites as well..luckily they ate the box and weren’t able to get into the candy bag!

I went for a run on what turned out to be National Running Day, I had no clue! Clearly I was very happy about it! My legs were still sore from the hike!

I had a delicious breakfast after though! Scrambled Eggs with leftover grilled veggies and the best thing ever: graham cracker, pb & apple butter!

Yesterday I made the switch from Clarksville, Tennessee to Birmingham, Alabama. My Aunt met my Dad, Tess and I half way very early in the morning and of course we snagged a photo!

When we got back to Birmingham we headed straight to MK’s softball game because she has a tournament this weekend. Captain America/Thor brought all of his gear with him to play with!

While trying to retrieve his Thor shield someone climbed a 5 foot fence, got his pants stuck and then landed on the concrete head first. So….we got to visit the hospital! He looks happy about it doesn’t he?

He has a nice bump and a mild concussion but it soon became clear he was back to himself.

He is telling us how we’re going to take him to Toys ‘r Us to get him not one but two toys and talking about Super Heros. Yes, he’s fine.

After going to Toys ‘r Us, we picked up lunch at one of my favorite places,  Zoe’s, for a late lunch before heading back to watch the last softball game. And they won again!

Just in case there was any doubt in your mine John David was really okay, here he is eating a gigantic Hershey’s Kiss. Scary.

John David and are staying at home today while Aunt Jen went to the tournament. I’ve watched Phineaus and Ferb all morning and am praying to the weather gods Josie gets dropped off from her sleepover soon so we can go to the pool before it storms all day…

I’m glad I got some relaxing in because it’s always crazy  busy here with Aunt Jen! I was ready for a little busy, just keep your fingers crossed for no more hospital visits please!

Have a Wonderful Saturday!
