A low key week…almost.

9 Jun

After a very fun and tiring weekend in Gatlinburg last weekend, this week was just what I needed! I basically lounged around my Dad’s house with my siblings all week long. Sleeping in, tanning, reading, planning trips for later in the summer and watching movies. My photos aren’t very exciting and mostly snapped on my iPhone so bear with me:)

Monday night we went to the local Froyo joint in Clarksville called Berry Bear!

My delicious creation!

Tuesday we went to the mall for a while and I contemplated Sperry’s, yes my feet are really that big!

But I decided to buy these online instead since I thought they were cuter!

Dinner that night was my favorite: Grilled Veggies & Baked Beans! I tried one of the new LightLife Veggie Burgers but my preference is still Morningstar Garden Veggie Burgers but of course homemade is the best!

While shopping at the mall and Walmart I picked up some “essentials.” I was intrigued by Cupcake Bites…don’t be, they’re gross. However I am extremely happy with my Pooh Pillow Pet! Yes I am a 5-year-old at heart.

Turns out the puppies were also interested in Cupcake Bites as well..luckily they ate the box and weren’t able to get into the candy bag!

I went for a run on what turned out to be National Running Day, I had no clue! Clearly I was very happy about it! My legs were still sore from the hike!

I had a delicious breakfast after though! Scrambled Eggs with leftover grilled veggies and the best thing ever: graham cracker, pb & apple butter!

Yesterday I made the switch from Clarksville, Tennessee to Birmingham, Alabama. My Aunt met my Dad, Tess and I half way very early in the morning and of course we snagged a photo!

When we got back to Birmingham we headed straight to MK’s softball game because she has a tournament this weekend. Captain America/Thor brought all of his gear with him to play with!

While trying to retrieve his Thor shield someone climbed a 5 foot fence, got his pants stuck and then landed on the concrete head first. So….we got to visit the hospital! He looks happy about it doesn’t he?

He has a nice bump and a mild concussion but it soon became clear he was back to himself.

He is telling us how we’re going to take him to Toys ‘r Us to get him not one but two toys and talking about Super Heros. Yes, he’s fine.

After going to Toys ‘r Us, we picked up lunch at one of my favorite places,  Zoe’s, for a late lunch before heading back to watch the last softball game. And they won again!

Just in case there was any doubt in your mine John David was really okay, here he is eating a gigantic Hershey’s Kiss. Scary.

John David and are staying at home today while Aunt Jen went to the tournament. I’ve watched Phineaus and Ferb all morning and am praying to the weather gods Josie gets dropped off from her sleepover soon so we can go to the pool before it storms all day…

I’m glad I got some relaxing in because it’s always crazy  busy here with Aunt Jen! I was ready for a little busy, just keep your fingers crossed for no more hospital visits please!

Have a Wonderful Saturday!

If all of your friends jumped off a bridge…

1 Jun

Or should I say, “If all of your siblings jumped off a bridge, would you?”

Apparently my answer is yes.

After a seemingly ordinary morning filled with sleeping in. donuts, and of course laying by the pool reading Mockingjay, Cory asked if I wanted to go with them to a creek. I really wanted to stay behind and finish the book I hadn’t been able to put down but I figured I should get out and be adventurous. Little did I know what I was getting myself into.

When we got to the creek called Pinnacle Point we were not alone. I got a taste of what some real Tennesseans are like. Apparently they love rope swings, bridges, cursing, smoking, tattoos and don’t forget washing down their hotdogs with some Yeager. I had the guts to try the first two on that list! And just barely! The bridge didn’t look so high…until I was standing on it. When it was my turn to jump I hung of the railing for a couple of minutes trying to ready myself but just made myself more nervous! My hands are sweating just typing this!

The verdict is jumping off a bridge isn’t so bad. IF someone else jumps before you in the same area and you know you won’t get hurt. This bridge may not look high but brother estimated it was third floor window height and it definitely gave you enough time to panic in the air. I even screamed, “oh crap,” I guess those Tennesseans and cursing habits were starting to rub off.

Ready.

Swing.

Let go!

The rope swing, which I did before the bridge, was a lot less scary but it still took a little courage to jump off that tree! My brother Drew, who is afraid of heights even did it! Tess refused to do the rope swing and replied, “I’d rather jump off the bridge.” And she did! If I would do it, too. Isn’t that what our parents were always trying to warn us about! In the end no one got hurt and now we can say that we’ve jumped off a rope bridge and swung on a rope swing! We’ve got a little piece of Tennessee backwoods with us as well. Like my brother said if you ever need a character for a book you’ve just been given several!

Drew swinging!

Tess jumping!

My Dad and Liza had a military ball to attend to so they left 6 young adults to their own devices for dinner which resulted in…Mexican! We went to a local place in Clarksville called Poncho Villas, the food and service was great! Our server was nice and very humorous he gave me a “hard time” about my “fake id” because I was with a table full of teenager after all!

I had the mushroom quesadilla which if you cannot tell was gigantic! And I also spy my delicious $1.99 margarita!

When we got home from dinner I was feeling very full, a little tipsy and consequently a little sleepy. But I was determined to finish Mockingjay and I did. It was not the ending I would have predicted but Collins kept me guessing through all her books! I am happy with the ending although i did shed a few tears, maybe alcohol induced but tears nonetheless!

11.22.13.

Now it’s time to pack because we’re off to a weekend in Gatlinburg, TN! But before I go just a quick reminder that tomorrow is…

National Donut Day!

My amazing apple fritter from this morning!

We’re hitting the road really early tomorrow and I’m not one to miss a national food holiday. So I didn’t take any chances and celebrated early, just in case! Dad, Tess and I went to a local shop called Shipley Do-Nuts and got a dozen plus two apple fritters! They are great donuts and if you’re around the Nashville area find a shop! But for everyone else…head to your nearest Krispy Kreme and get a Doughnut of your choice for free!

Hope everyone has a very Happy Doughnut Day!
